73rd Independence Day celebrated at Sainik School Kalikiri

Sainik School, Kalikiri the 25 Sainik School in the country and the second in the State celebrated 73rd Independence Day on Thursday with great pomp and show on its campus, amidst a good turnout of staff and parents.
The Principal, Capt (IN) Vikrant Kishore was the Chief Guest. He, accompanied by his lady wife Cdr Minakshi Sahay (Retd.), was extended a warm welcome by the Vice Principal Lt Col Ishani Maitra.
The Chief Guest after unfurling the national flag received an impeccable Salute from the smartly clad sixteen contingents of the school. The audience were impressed with the March Past, as the cadets demonstrated the heel march by digging their heel to the ground, with toes pointed upwards and arms swinging rhythmically, which laid emphasis on bearing, marching, saluting and coordinating. Besides, the March Past the mime of Pulwama Terror Attack and Indian Air Force Surgical Strike 2.0 won a standing ovation as the camouflaged cadets clearly depicted the bloodiest and gruesome terrorist attack on the Indian soil where 44 CRPF jawans were martyred on 14 Feb and how Indian Air Force gave a befitting reply by killing a large number of terrorists, which showed the prowess of Indian Defence Forces. The School Band also enthralled the audience with their immaculate formations.
Prior to his speech, amidst the resounding applause the Chief Guest gave away the most sought-after Cock House trophy to Godavari House for topping in various competitions of the school. In his address the Chief Guest recalled the martyrs of India’s freedom struggle for liberating the country from the clutches of foreign rule. He advised the cadets to slog aptly to become Officers of Indian Armed Forces and other elite services. The red-letter day culminated with the national anthem.
