Teacher’s Day was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm on 5th September in the School Auditorium at Sainik School Kalikiri. The   auspicious day started with giving a floral tribute to the portrait of Dr. Saravpalli Radhakrishnan by Wg Cdr V S Dangwal, Principal of the school.

Mrs Sweta Dangwal the First Lady of the campus was the Guest of Honour. She lighted the lamp as a mark of the commencement of the Teachers’ Day celebration. A documentary showing the importance of the teacher’s role in turning the child into a fruitful citizen of the country was screened.

The Principal in his address said the job of a teacher is very vital as it is linked with the life of the child. He appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers of the school and also lauded them for their commitment and dedication to the cause of education.

He urged the teachers of Sainik School to lead a healthy and disciplined life and create a healthy learning environment for the cadets. He appealed to the teachers to be more kind towards the cadets because every child is a valuable asset to the growth of the nation. Further adding he said that mother gives birth to a child only once but a teacher gives birth twice, one is educating the child and the second one is enabling the child to educate others.

This was followed by a cultural program which consisted of a vibrant array of performances. The cadets of the four houses of the school enthralled the audience with their songs, dances, skits and speeches. The performance of cadets on the stage exclusively for teachers was a memorable one. Cadets exhibited their talents as a treat to the teachers.

Administrative Officer Sq Ldr T K Sumesh, Second lady of the campus Mrs Priyanak Sumesh, cadets, staff and their families were in attendance for the programme. All the faculty members were then presented with a memento as a token of appreciation for their hard work and constructive support. The program ended with a vote of thanks by the School vice Captain.
