SAINIK SCHOOL KALIKIRI HELDS THE SECOND INTER HOUSE CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP

Sainik School Kalikiri sports field witnessed cheers, celebrations of joy and happiness, huge noise of encouragement during its second Inter House Cricket Championship final match held on 28 October 2016 at the school sports field. Krishna and Penna Houses showed their mettle to saunter into finals by defeating Godavari and Tungbhadra in the knockout stage. The decider between the two finalists was a spectacular match and Cdt Kissan Kumar  led the team from front to give Penna House a memorable 10 wickets win to clinch the Inter House Cricket Championship trophy in their second attempt. They showed tremendous grit in their fielding and bowling in the final restricting Krishna House to a meagre total of 43 in ten overs. The openers did the business for Penna House by chasing the total to give their House the maiden trophy for the current academic year. In a match for the third position Tungabhadra House defeated Godavari House by nine wickets chasing down a total of 63. In the overall result Godavari stood fourth, Tungabhadra third, Krishna the runners-up and Penna were the proud champions to receive the trophy from Offg Principal Wg Cdr VS Dangwal, the Chief Guest of the occasion. He congratulated the winners Penna House and lauded the efforts of Krishna House. In his address after giving away the merit certificates and medals the participants of two finalist teams, he said that the sports activities will help them develop their personalities, in addition to identifying the strengths in a particular game and thus opening up newer avenues for them. He also urged the cadets to look into the key areas to produce a tough school team for nearby Inter School Competitions of Sainik Schools.
