CHILDREN’S DAY

The theme of the day "With love - from teachers to cadets"

Children’s Day is celebrated all over India on the 14th of November every year. The first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, was born on this day. Pandit Nehru loved children very much, and wanted to be with them always. The children too loved him and called him “Chacha Nehru” (Uncle Nehru) affectionately. Thus 14th November is celebrated as Children’s day in his memory. In our school too Children’s Day was celebrated with pomp and show. All the cadets wait for this day eagerly. The campus was buzzing with excitement and joy. They have no studies that day and Offg Principal gave them permission to wear colourful dresses instead of uniforms. The teachers spend weeks in preparing a cultural programme for the cadets. This year the programme was very good, and the cadets loved every minute of it. The uniqueness of the programme was that the cadets were the guests while cadet B Amit, school cadet captain, was the chief guest. The teachers presented a variety of cultural programme which included songs, dances, skits, poem recitation and stand up comedy. But the best item of all was a fashion parade done by the teachers. To everyone’s surprise, Offg Principal and Administrative Officer seen walking on the stage in the modern dress, all the cadets jumped with joy after seeing them on the stage. All the teachers came on stage to tell how much they loved the cadets and how they enjoyed being their teachers. The cadets were all much moved. The first lady of the campus, Mrs Sweta Dangwal blessed the cadets and distributed sweets to make our happiness more.

The Offg Principal Wg Cdr VS Dangwal greeted the cadets on this occasion and exhorted them to follow the path of honesty and hard work as shown by Pt Nehru. He gave the message of peace and harmony to the students and urged them to follow the ideals of Nehru. The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks followed by national anthem. Then everyone to Cadets’ Mess for a special dinner. In the mess, food was dish up by the staff to the cadets.

All the cadets were talking about how special this Children’s Day was for them. They enjoyed it very much and also grew to love their teachers and school more. Throughout the day they were all happy and excited as all cultural items were organized and performed by the teachers. They enjoyed this day very much and there was a giggle on the face of every Saikilian.
