INTER-HOUSE QUIZ COMPETITION

Exuberating, motivating, enlightening and engaging would describe the Quiz Competition of Sainik School Kalikiri. The Inter-House Quiz Competition, 2016-17 was held on the 30th March, 2017 in the School Auditorium, in which four different houses with three fervent participants in each house gave tough battle to each other. The competition was aimed at developing the knowledge and excellence base among the cadets through healthy and highly motivating meet. The cadets crammed themselves up with a lot of general knowledge for the quiz.
Wg Cdr VS Dangwal Offg Principal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In order to give participation to all the cadets of the School, this year the competition was conducted in two phases, wherein, all the cadets participated in the written test thereupon, the best three cadets from each house were selected for the final competition. The event witnessed enthusiastic preparation and participation. The teams comprised of three participants, per house. The participants had to go through mazes of intuited and mind blowing twelve rounds consisting of questions on various subjects such as English Literature, History, Geography, Science, sports, music and many more. This was followed by the Rapid Fire round, Audio round and Video round. The Quiz Master prepared a number of interesting questions that tested every aspect of their knowledge. The Audio-Visual round was indeed exciting and greatly appreciated by the audience. The rapid fire round left everyone amazed as the participants answered questions in quick succession.
The time allotted to give the correct answer was thirty seconds, failing which the question was passed to the next team. In case, none of the teams were able to answer correctly, the question was open for the audience. Mr. V. Amarnath bombarded the cadets with questioner, as he conducted the competition. The scores were tabulated by Cdt Kumar Ambuj of Class VIII. All the participants were seen very enthusiastic throughout the competition. Not only were the participants but also the audience were seen busy in guessing the correct answer for the questions posed by the Quiz Master. The School Auditorium was reverberated with spectators’ clapping whenever there was a correct answer from their house team. It was very informative and knowledge enriching competition for the participants along with the audience.
Although the teams participated actively, the team that scored the most was Krishna House, which was followed by Tungabhadra House who took the second position. The other two houses, Penna and Godavari, succeeded in getting the third and fourth positions respectively. The Chief Guest gave away the trophies and certificates to the winners and runners. Addressing the cadets after the prize distribution ceremony the Chief Guest felt happy over the performance of the participants. He said the competition was conducted in an organised manner and the range of questions was also very different. He emphasised the need of reading newspaper, watching T.V. and browsing the net to update one’s general awareness.
