GOC ATTENDS ANNUAL AWARD PRESENTATION CEREMONY AT SAINIK SCHOOL KALIKIRI

Sainik School Kalikiri celebrated the Annual Award Presentation Ceremony amidst great zest, vibrancy and elation. Major General S Pachory, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Telangana & Andhra Sub Area graced the occasion as the Chief Guest to confer trophies to the academically and on field meritorious cadets for the academic year 2016-17. Captain (Indian Navy) Simon Xavier, Principal and Mrs Vinatha Simon, the first lady accorded a warm welcome to the Major General and Mrs Anju Pachory, the Guest of Honour.

The awards for the year included The Best Student in Academics, The Best Student in Sports, The Best Overall Student and The Cock House Trophy for the Best House. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Mrs Anju Pachory, the Guest of Honour followed by welcome address by Princial.The evening turned out more colourful with the cultural feast by cadets captivating the Chief Guest, dignitories and the other guests with their grace and stamina. The presentation ceremony started amidst great applause and cheers from cadets. Cadet Pankaj Kumar was the first and happy cadet to receive the trophy from the Chairman in The Best Student in Academics category. Cadet Kalim Akhtar bagged two prestegious,The Best Sportsman and The Overall Best Student awards. Krishna House was the proud winner to receive the Cock House Trophy – The Overall Best House trophy – an acknowledgement for their brilliant achievements in all areas for the previous academic year. The House was elated to receive the trophy from the General.

Speaking on the momentous occasion, the Chief Guest extended special appreciation to the winners and urged everyone to come out with more participation. He urged the cadets to aim to have pride in their endeavours, to be resilient and determined, and try to remain cheerful even in the face of adversity. He also exhorted them to utilise the plethora of opportunities provided by the school and to adapt themselves to the intensive training to see themselves laden with Officer Like Qualities before emphasising on enhancing the communication skills.The Chairman also exhorted the teachers to strive for academic excellence of cadets apart from kindling their dormant potentialities to give the society and nation thoughtful citizens. The Major General was presented the school memento as a token of gratitude by the Principal and the first lady. The cadets were delighted when the Major General joined them in the High tea during the conclusion of the event. The ceremony was also attended by Brigadier VV Reddy, Col SS Deshpande, Vice Principal Wg Cdr VS Dangwal, Admn Officer Sqn Ldr TK Sumesh and the team Sainik School Kalikiri.
