Sainik School Kalikiri sports field witnessed cheers, celebrations of joy and happiness, huge noise of encouragement during its third Inter House Cricket Championship final match held on 24 November 2017 at the school sports field. Penna and Tungabhadra Houses showed their mettle to saunter into finals by defeating Krishna and Godavari in the knockout stage. The decider between the two finalists was a spectacular match. Penna House showed tremendous grit in their fielding and bowling in the final match. Cdt Kisan Kumar led the team from front to give Penna House a memorable win to clinch the Inter House Cricket Championship trophy in for the second consecutive time. In a match for the third position Krishna House defeated Godavari House by 25 runs defending a total of 84 in 10 overs. In the overall result Godavari stood fourth, Krishna third, Tungabhadra the runners-up and Penna House was the proud champion to receive the trophy from Principal Capt (IN) Simon Xavier, the Chief Guest of the occasion. He congratulated the winners and lauded the efforts of runners team. In his address after giving away the merit certificates and medals to the participants of two finalist teams, he said that the sports activities will help them develop
their personalities, in addition to identifying the strengths in a particular game and thus opening up newer avenues for them. He also urged the cadets to look into the key areas to enhance their skills further. Vice Prinicpal, Lt Col Ishani Maitra, Admn Officer Sqn Ldr TK Sumesh and staff were present.
